Agent Hosts Inaugural Fundraiser to Support Breast Cancer Awareness
Harcourts Cooper & Co agent Ali Butler & The Lending Team's Managing Director Keagan Modlinhas have organized their first fundraiser to support the Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand.
The event was born due to Ms Butler's passion about raising awareness of breast cancer, particularly after witnessing her mother's triumphant battle with the disease.
"Early detection is key to winning this fight" she says, stating that "I’m hosting this as my mum fought breast cancer and won the battle," she says.
"There are so many out there who struggle with Breast Cancer & I’m hoping to raise funds to help ‘Pinkie’ the caravan reach more communities who don’t have easy access and resources for early detection!"
Speaking earlier this year, Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand chief executive Ah-Leen Rayner said the idea of Pinkie was to take breast cancer awareness out to small and hard-to-reach communities that may not have access to specialist health services.
“We encourage people to come and chat to our friendly and knowledgeable nurses who can offer advice about how to lower your risk of breast cancer, what signs and symptoms to look out for and how to get enrolled for breast screening,” Rayner said.
On board visitors will find lots of information and resources, including a silicon breast model called Bessie, showing what lumps and other symptoms look and feel like. “Early detection is the best way to beat breast cancer, so the health education work that our nurses do saves lives.”
The fundraiser promises to be a memorable occasion, with exciting prizes, raffles, and support from several local businesses, including a wine fridge that will be up for grabs.
"We are thrilled to support Ali in her efforts to promote breast cancer awareness and her commitment to supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand. Our team believes that this event will bring the community together to support a worthy cause and make a meaningful impact on those affected by breast cancer," said a spokesperson for Harcourts Cooper & Co.
